Jim Miller has practiced law in Seattle since 1980 and has been a shareholder of Mills Meyers Swartling since 1988. Jim’s practice emphasizes the representation of individuals and business entities in a variety of commercial contexts, including planning, organizing, and financing of business entities; handling business and real estate transactions and commercial and employment contract matters; and addressing issues faced by family-owned businesses. Jim has represented businesses and individuals in commercial litigation in state and federal trial and appellate courts and serves as an arbitrator in commercial and personal injury lawsuits. Jim was a judicial clerk for the Idaho Supreme Court following law school and has served as a trustee of The Mountaineers, a Seattle-based nonprofit outdoor recreation and conservation organization; as a member and as the chair of the Management Board of The Mountaineers Books, a nonprofit publisher of books aimed at inspiring and educating the outdoor community; and as a trustee and officer of the Mercer Island Schools Foundation, a nonprofit community organization which solicits donations from private donors to enhance public education.
